“Boum! Boum! En Avant La Musique!“
9 June – 23 July 2016
“The film inspires a metaphor that engages you into a soft delirium. It is a playful critique, resounding and burlesque, a savage attack against the inconsistency of the war, and a chant to the revealing and committed creativity”. (Pierre Restany)
Within 29 minutes Antoni Miralda and Benet Rossell are casting a critical, trenchant satirical and revealing glance onto the mechanisms of power. The main character of the film is a general played by Jaume Xifra, who is also defining the storyline. He stumps uniformed and accompanied by a priest through a terrain covered with destroyed pieces of everyday objects, broken up and surrounded by grass and trees. The general is leading and the priest, as well as the other characters in the film, are following his instructions without resistance. Later in the film, a living space gets turned into a command center. Walls, furniture (chairs, tables...) and a piano get covered by a camouflage net. Mountains of paper are covering the floor and also the time gets manipulated by the general. Devoted servants and soldiers ready for service are standing by his side. This scenario is followed by a strong cut. The general’s paradise comes to an end symbolised by footage of World War I.
The 29-minute fictional movie “Boum! Boum! En avant la musique!“ by Antoni Miralda and Benet Rossell was shot in colour with a 16mm Kodak Kodachrome II in Paris, 1974 and newly edited and released in form of a DVD in 2007.
“Boum! Boum! En avant la musique!“ is shown in a cooperation with Galeria Senda, Barcelona at Galerie Krinzinger Parterre.
