TRIGON 67/17
ambiente nuovo / post environment
24 September - 23 November 2017
Curators: Sandro Droschl, Jürgen Dehm
The tri-country biennial “trigon” was founded in Graz in 1963, and for decades it presented an opportunity for wider artistic exchanges among the former Yugoslavia, Italy, Austria and other countries. “trigon 67” in particular, which took place in the Künstlerhaus and its outdoor environs, was titled “ambiente / environment.” It comprised one of the central exhibitions and featured fifteen, nowadays well known artists who examined contemporary architectural issues and the perception of various spaces.
To celebrate the “trigon 67’s“ and steirischer herbst’s fiftieth anniversary, the Künstlerhaus is devoting itself to an update of these once heavily discussed approaches. Once again fifteen young positions from the Trigon area refer to the original subject and present a range of practices dealing with space and architecture in contemporary art.
One highlight will be the path around the Künstlerhaus and exterior installation from 1967, created by the architects Günther Domenig and Eilfried Huth, which will be presented in an adapted form during the trigon 67/17 show.
