Images are Kool Killers (Baudrillard) or the hell. (P. Virilio). Passion and subversion of modernism. Everything has been recorded already. In Thomas Draschan’s found footage films the images find themselves in a kind of studio. They go to the lab another time. They learn to film each other. Educational footage meets B-Movie, repetitions and sequences make media conventions visible. In the video-loop „nature boy“ the protagonist looks through a microscope: instead of amoebas he gets to see monsters, orgies & disasters. In the other works, large format collages made of original paper clips the effect of distraction is as visible as in the found footage work. Content always raises to the surface. Rapid firing of images create tension.
