DOROTHEA VON STETTEN ART AWARD 2014
CZECH REPUBLIC
26 March - 17 August 2014

“Everything needs to change, so everything can stay the same.” According to this principle, the Dorothea von Stetten Art Award Board of Trustees has decided to realign the award’s structure. From now on the award will focus on the art scene of a neighboring country which this year will be the Czech Republic. The country has a rich art scene which hasn’t received enough attention from Germany yet. This is to be changed during the Dorothea von Stetten Art Award show 2014 which will take place from 29 May to 17 August. Out of a total of nine artists nominated by ten Czech art experts, a jury consisting of artist Katinka Bock, collector Stephanie Bohn, art historian Ondřej Chrobák, journalist Catrin Lorch and art historian Rein Wolfs, has selected five artists to present their work at the Kunstmuseum Bonn and compete for the Dorothea von Stetten Art Award 2014. The five finalists are: video artist Adela Babanova (*1980), graphic and concept artist Petra Herotová (*1980), multimedia concept artist Eva Koťátková (*1982), concept artist Václav Magid (* 1979) and video and installation artist Jakub Nepraš (*1981). We are already very excited to see the rich artistic panorama of our Czech neighboring country.

The exhibition will be accompanied by a catalogue with essays by Jaroslav Andel, Karel Cisař, Vit Havránek, Marek Pokorný, Noemi Smolik und Jiři Svestka which will be available at a price of € 15.
