TATIANA TROUVÉ
16 October 2013 - 4 May 2014

Tatiana Trouvé was born in 1968 in Cosenza (Italy) and lives in Paris today. Although the artist can look back on a history of numerous comprehensive exhibitions (among others at the Kunsthaus Graz [2010], Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst, Zurich [2009], Centre Pompidou, Paris [2008] as well as participations at the São Paulo Art Biennial [2010] and the Vennice Biennial [2007]), her show at the Kunstmuseum Bonn is her first solo exhibition in a German museum.

For her show in Bonn Tatjana Trouvé will develop a site-specific collection of new works that will be presented in eight rooms and refer to the museum’s architectural characteristics. Her delicate interventions will fill the rooms and change them in unexpected psychological ways.

In an almost minimalistic manner Trouvé uses simple everyday materials like metal pieces, stones, chairs, glass, soil or water to create surprising constructions that connect memory, history and poetry. Still, her rooms never represent the absent, but draw the visitors into situations loaded with phantasms and imaginaries that seem to elude their definition. Lightness and monumentality, consistency and transience, fiction and everyday situations seem to lose their meaning in Trouvé’s rooms. A strange intertwinement of time and space is also apparent in Trouvé’s large-format drawings that will be on display in the exhibition, too.

The exhibition is conceived in cooperation with Museion Bozen (30.5.-6.9.2014) and the Kunsthalle Nürnberg (13. 11.2014 – 8. 02.2015).
