CAMILL LEBERER

13 November 2010 - 16 January 2011

For many years now, Camill Leberer (*1953) has succeeded in designing stages and room situations with his large sculptures that powerfully interact with their architectural surroundings. Parallel to these, the Stuttgart artist produced an extensive collection of drawings in which he translates the materiality of steel and glass into charcoal and translucent paper. Just as Leberer is thoroughly a sculptor, these works on paper also demonstrate his plastic thinking and production. On the occasion of the awarding of the Peter Hans Hofschneider Prize by the Kunststiftung Baden-Württemberg, the Kunstmuseum Stuttgart will show one sculpture and for the first time his most recent large-format drawings along with photographs. The latter are to a large extent unknown and represent irritating details of his sculptures. Viewing this multiform work together offers new insights into Leberer’s consistent development.

A collaborative project with the Kunststiftung Baden-Württemberg
