David Douard’s inspiration is fuelled by anonymous conversations, poems, and photos from the darknet, an encoded version of the internet. All this finds its abstracted translation in hybrid objects, which oscillate between organic and technical representations. In his first institutional solo exhibition in Germany, Douard scatters traces in order to make them disappear again later. Even though some of the works seem to be inaccessible, their atmosphere – both sober and melancholic at the same time – can still be felt and experienced in a very intense way.

David Douard (*1983 in Perpignan, France) lives in Aubervilliers. In 2015, he participated in exhibitions in the Musée d’art Moderne de la Ville, Paris, and in the Fridericianum, Kassel. Parallel to the exhibition at the Kunstverein Braunschweig, Douard’s works can be seen at the Konrad Fischer Gallery and in a group show at the Kunstsaele.
