NAAMA ARAD
Love Handles
2 December 2017 - 18 February 2018

Through her sculptures and installations, Naama Arad (*1985, lives and works in Tel Aviv, IL) deals with the relationship between humans and objects. With a subtle, almost surreal sense of humour these works reveal a symbiosis with the objects surrounding us. As a manifestation of individuality as well as subjectivity, goods are more and more enriched with attributions – swerving further away from their originally intended function.

For her first institutional solo exhibition in Germany, Naama Arad will continue scrutinising questions about gender, sexuality, power and language. Through the humanization of mass-produced objects, Arad’s exhibition seeks to create a reflexion, which, at the same time, is a mirror image of the psychosomatic state of falling in love. While additionally containing aspects of animism as well as fetishism, the exhibition evokes a projection of feelings and desires where the object of desire transforms into the subject of desire.
