KW Institute for Contemporary Art

One-on-one with the work, alone with the art—the exhibition ONE ON ONE creates a radical, confrontational intimacy and a direct dialogue between artist and viewer. International artists will present new works oriented toward the reception of one, single viewer in spaces that are specially designed for them. In contrast to gigantic museum architectures with large exhibition halls, visitors will move through separate, individual rooms: whether a space for action or contemplation, miniature museum, gallery, or non-place, whether performative, installative, or conceptual, abstract or representational, utopian or heterotopic—no limitations beyond the spatial are put on the artistic creation of individual microcosms.

Individual, closed spaces with diverging, artistic positions will populate the entire exhibition space of KW in order to create completely new, experimental forms of showing, exhibiting, and seeing.
