ROCÍO GARCÍA
'Very, Very Light...and very oscuro'

«If I lose my memory...»
Rocío did not have to sign her canvas, her signature is her painting. Without any posible mistake for making easier the understanding of the audience and the peace of mind of the experts. We all can recognize her drawing style, the sharp colors and the mysteriously busy beings who wander about all her pictures. Her work is also a Picture that can be read, then I ask myself if we could gain this painter for the team of writers: Her pieces of art hypnotize just as a book we can not put down. So we feel eager to know what’s happening within the shaped square canvas. We have the urgent need of finding out what’s going on in the scene, the same like in the great narrations or in the good script movies.
What happens in Rocío’s Pictures is amazing. A relatively hidden life passes by her Works. An Agonizing, unfortunate, ambiguos, different, broken, and sometimes ignored life from ourselves, opens the doors and escapes from the social and personal prison where we had confined it. The Word we could not pronounce, the desire we did not dare to feel, the imagined portion of violence, the forbidden, the most absolute madness or even the death itself, are present and walk with fowardness as if it were the most natural thing in the World. All this scene let us think how intolerant, false and prejudiced is the way we have allowed our epoch to be.
This artists, who is graduated from the Répin Academy of Arts in Russia has made a good use of all her visual resources to populate a new Pandora’s box with a perfect agreement between fierceness of painting and the intelectual position which rules the whole. The creatures who live now whithin the box are others and are characterized by the cruelty and the insolence of this epoch and they go showing new emblems, symbols and appearances. They move through doubtful places of low reputation presided by the good manners. They act based on a different moral behaviour despite of they look like outsiders to us sometimes, they’ve always been around, prowling and living underground and underlying in our own darkness. Places? Bars, bathrooms, brothels, chips, circus, billiards... Characters? Dealers, geishas, tamers, masochists, strippers, mutants, wrestlers, opium smokers, rapers, models, and beings who has gone from a social class to another. Rocío opens with her art another Pandora’s Box and the indivuals who run away very quickly to the Light point out with their guns, spills another’s man blood, drink at the bar, look at the mirror, humilliate themselves, smuggle. They feel desire, They betray, They love...
