FILIP BERENDT
Every Single Crash
24 May - 17 July 2013

Filip Berendt studied at the Department of Graphic Art in the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź, at the Department of Photography in the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, and the Royal Academy of Arts in London, where he received
a postgraduate diploma in Sculpture. The exhibition, “Every Single Crash”, is a result of the artist’s stay at the Taipei Artists’ Village while participating in its “artist in residence” program at the turn of 2012 and 2013. Though Brendt’s main medium is photography he aims to reach beyond its documentary character, seeking out sensual and formal values in it in order to highlight the physicality of photographed objects. His unrepeatable process of creating is an essential part of his art. Accumulation and intensification of forms and structures, visual and materialistic richness intrigues the observer by ambiguous sensuality. Brendt finds a balance of colour and space to create a harmonious composition. He points out the diversity of objects, combines them together and braves the risk of unexpected crashes: EVERY SINGLE CRASH.
