Ben takes hold the Lyon Museum of Contemporary Art with its artworks: paintings, texts, videos... 50 years of art: the really first exhibition gathering all Ben, from his early Fluxus spirit works to installations created especially for the occasion.
Born in 1935 in Italy, Ben, French artist with Swiss origins, lives and works in Nice, France. He is one of the major XXth century artists, known for its performances, installations and paintings. He has been working on topics as much popular as enigmatic: Bananas, Ego, Gestures, Appropriations, Ethnos, Sex , etc. He plays with those themes and words to question art, but also the truth and the world we share with him. Ben is extraordinarily popular for its “writings” combining impertinence with an extreme accuracy.
An important reference catalogue on Ben is published with contributions of 8 authors: philosophers, art historians and critics such as Arthur Danto, Alexandra Munroe, Philippe Vergne or Hans Ulrich Obrist.
