LES CONTEMPORAINS
The Exhibition
18 – 28 September 2014

This exhibition brings together a selection of works by six emerging artists created during Les Ateliers TD, which was held at the Arsenal in the winter of 2014 and was produced on the occasion of the 5oth anniversary of the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal in collaboration with Arsenal.
The six young artists (Guillaume Boudrias-Plouffe, Charles Lavoie, Frances Adair Mckenzie, Manuel Mathieu, Caroline Monnet, Karine Payette) created one work a week under the mentorship of seven established artists (David Altmejd, Cynthia Girard, Jean-Pierre Gauthier, Isabelle Hayeur, Bettina Hoffmann, François Morelli, et Marc Séguin). The result of collaboration, discussion, experimentation, they explored diverse media, from photography to sculpture, installation, performance and animated cinema.
The creation of the works is the subject of a documentary series in seven episodes entitled Les Contemporains, directed by Bernar Hébert and produced by ANEMIC & KINETIC, which will be broadcast on ICI ARTV Tuesday evenings at 9pm beginning on September 23, 2014.
