DANIEL VERBIS
31 March - 11 May, 2011

Max Estrella Gallery presents next Daniel Verbis ́ exhibition. The show presents a series of works with which the author goes beyond the limits of painting and crosses the boundary between representation and object.

Without giving up painting, Verbis searches new paths. Research on painting materials and elements in the process of deconstruction of the painting continues to define his work, occupying that paradoxical space where painting goes beyond the classical limits of its possibilities, where it can even be mistaken with the materials themselves. This becomes an element of the artist speech. The motifs conquer the surfaces.

Verbis' work has an important recreational component, which does not mean that he is swept away by improvisation, but quite the opposite. This recreational component, along with the pursuit of an idea, make up the exploratory nature to find ways that could lead to it.

Devenir Prenatal presents complex works that transgress the traditional concept of the painting to dissociate from any final image, from any clear or total idea. Oval images, ovular images, spring-like images... Pictures of what is yet to come: a subject-a rational being, a thought, an entity.

Paint-object that highlights the physical part of the perceptual experience. Paint-object which shapes the painting by superimposing three main elements, three steps, three flashes: structure-flourish-opening. The structure represents the rational space, the threshold, the house, the home, the security. That is visible through the frame, through the window of the painting. Woven into the structure appears the flourish: the scribble, the fold, the fanciful drawing, the knot. Liquid arms and legs which merge into a sea of protruding extremities. Suspended tattoo, outer body. And in the center, the opening, the source wounded by the gesture and the fact, the hypnotic spiral, the core of the hurricane, the shell, the egg. The fruit at the apex of the hook.
.And all this is discovered little by little. All this is running in the back of the eye. All: the place, the eye, the eye fold, the seed, the life that is taken by the wind. Intense knots where touch becomes acceleration.
