Vincent Szarek’s sculptural objects appear as superlatives in shape: luxurious glossy surfaces, smoothly and from one flush, they look like they fell from the sky and were shaped aerodynamically through the resistance of the air. As a matter of fact, Moving in Stereo is an artwork which make clear, that the automotive tuning fetish is one important subject matter of Szareks art. His painted fibreglass objects are based on computer generated designs, which in the end until the last finish are produced on an assembly line specially developed by Szarek. “My sculptures are based on special models and individual designs. These sculptures refer to cars and other custom products in the field of objects. Their production is based on digital technologies (CAD/CAM) that allow fast and infinitely variable changes in shape. I am interested in the individualisation of objects, the disengagement of objects from modern industrial mass production, as they are becoming more extensively (and affordable) available and accessible for individuals” (V.S.)
Vincent Szareks skulpturale Objekte erscheinen als Superlative der Form: luxuriös glänzende Oberflächen, nahtlos und aus einem Guss, wirken als seien sie vom Himmel gefallen und durch den Luftwiderstand aerodynamisch geformt worden. Tatsächlich verdeutlicht Moving in Stereo exemplarisch, dass Tuning und Fetischisierung ein zentrales Thema seiner Kunst sind. Szareks lackierte Fiberglasobjekte basieren auf computergenerierten Entwürfen, welche dann, bis zum letzten Finish, über eine von Szarek eigens entwickelte Produktionsstraße gefertigt werden. »Ich arbeite an Skulpturen auf der Basis von Spezialanfertigungen und individuellen Aufmachungen. Diese Skulpturen beziehen sich auf Autos und andere Spezialanfertigungen im Objektbereich. Die Herstellung bezieht digitale Technologien ein (CAD/CAM), die rasche und unendlich variable Veränderungen der Form erlauben. Ich bin an der Individualisierung von Objekten interessiert, an der Herauslösung von Objekten aus der modernen industriellen Serienproduktion, wie sie für Individuen immer weitgehender (und billiger) verfügbar und zugänglich sind.« (V.S.)
