Scholarship Holders of the Jürgen Ponto-Stiftung

April 17 - June 13, 2010
Opening: Friday, April 16, 2010, 7 p.m.

In 1977, Ignes Ponto and the Dresdner Bank founded the Jürgen Ponto-Stiftung, a foundation to continue the patronage activities of Jürgen Ponto, the Chairman of the Board of Management of Dresdner Bank who was murdered that same year by terrorists from the Red Army Faction. Jürgen Ponto’s efforts on behalf of young artists and his dedication to creating a wider basis for art define the Foundation’s activities.

Since 2003, the Jürgen Ponto-Stiftung has awarded two scholarships annually to young artists. In cooperation with the MMK, every three years two scholarship holders are given the opportunity to present their work to a broad public in the context of an exhibition at the MMK ZOLLAMT.

Since 2003, the Jürgen Ponto-Stiftung has awarded two scholarships annually to young artists. In cooperation with the MMK, every three years two scholarship holders are given the opportunity to present their work to a broad public in the context of an exhibition at the MMK ZOLLAMT.
Ever since its foundation, the Jürgen Ponto-Stiftung has been pursuing the goal of promoting young, largely unknown artists who are just starting their career in the field of visual art.
The Foundation strives to encourage creative individuals whose work shows evidence of innovative artistic ideas and demonstrates potential for independent development.
From April 17 until June 13, 2010, the works of the two scholarship holders Heide Nord and Falke Pisano will be presented at the MMK Zollamt.

n her installations, Heide Nord (born in 1980) explores the medium of painting in the broadest sense, while cultivating very different variations. She incorporates various materials into her installations, changing between abstraction and figuration, and focuses on themes from the natural sciences, anthropology, art history, music and popular culture.
The Dutch artist Falke Pisano was born in 1978. Her works are based on an exploration of observation and experience. One clear focal point of her work is an exploration of abstract objects and their mutability by linguistic, i.e. also abstract, means. Although her artistic works are primarily based on texts, they always relate to factual things. She was represented at the Venice Biennial last year.
The exhibition at the MMK Zollamt enjoys the generous support of the Jürgen Ponto-Stiftung.
