Laureates of the Jürgen Ponto-Stiftung 2003-2006

After the assassination of the Spokesman of the Managing Board of the Dresdner Bank, Jürgen Ponto, Ignes Ponto and the Dresdner Bank founded the Jürgen Ponto–Foundation in the year 1977. The Jürgen Ponto–Foundation persues the aim to support young and widely unknown artists who stand at the beginning of their career. The guiding idea hereby is to encourage such creative personalities who reveal in their works a new creative approach. Since 2003 two scholarships have been granted every year. The Jürgen Ponto–Foundation moreover supports the project space »Zollamt« of the Museum für Moderne Kunst in Frankfurt with an annual donation. The occasion for this engagement was the 25th anniversary in the year 2002 and includes also the presentation of the scholarship holders of the foundation. With this cooperation the foundation wants to express its connectivity and commitment to the city Frankfurt am Main. The Jürgen Ponto-Foundation establishes with this support program a long lasting partnership with the Museum für Moderne Kunst Frankfurt am Main. The exhibition shows works of Michael Beutler and Jan Timme (scholarship holders 2003/2004), Astrid Nippoldt und Andrea Faciu (scholarship holders 2004/2005) and Friedrich Kunath and David Lieske (scholarship holders 2005/2006). The selection of the actual works of these six scholarship holders was worked out in an intense collaboration between the MMK and the artists.
