TERCERUNQUINTO
Solidarity Economy Project, 2009
For their first intervention at Proyectos Monclova, Tercerunquinto has conceived a project that explores some of the relations established between the artists and the gallery, situating the process of creation of the work at the center of such relations. Tercerunquinto has proposed José García, director of the gallery, to modify the operativity of the gallery by expanding its commercial services to collectors and general public, offering to be open 24 hours a day during seven consecutive days.
In a probably vague attempt to emancipate this intervention from any other form of existence and liberate it from any theoretical justification, Tercerunquinto hopes that the resulting work would be produced and would circulate on the basis of fundamentally commercial interests and necessities–highlighting thereby the specific context in which this project comes about as well as the interpretation frame in which it is inserted, given the economic situation which we currently experience worldwide. Therefore, Tercerunquinto distance themselves from the documentation procedure of this work and transfers the responsibility to the gallerist who, through this process, will define the final aesthetic of the piece. Furthermore, the price, editions and form of distribution and marketing will also be the established as a result of a unilateral decision by the gallerist.
