Your time is my Rolex

The exhibition Your Time Is My Rolex presents a number of machine sculptures by Andreas Fischer. In a carefully choreographed interplay between materials, mechanisms, and techniques, these witty manmachine parodies busy themselves, lament, and polemicize-while delivering a mixture of keen personal and outside observations on humanity, its achievements, and society into the surrounding space. In the process the fraught relationship between man and machine that has been handed down to us is lampooned, since the machines do not expose mankind's limitations by means of superhuman abilities (speed, power, complexity), but emulate them. Fischer's machines confront us with vital questions and never tire of showing the need to carry on: the machine simply has to work, has to keep on running-even if things sometimes do not turn out as they should.
