Family life, ideas of happiness, everyday stories about dealing with landlords or insurance reps – Corinna Schnitt’s short movies are dedicated to apparently personal but socially based rituals and interactions. Against the backdrop of clear, calm takes chosen by the artist, the texts spoken off-screen assume a life of their own that is further underlined by the skill with which the motifs are introduced. The artist couples her minimalist script with concentrated images in such a way that the meticulously observed transactions are transposed in to an artistic work of great abstractive power. Corinna Schnitt has produced her piece as part of the Edition Bewegte Bilder run by Museum Ludwig and the Rheingold Collection, which enables new projects to be realised by selected artists. The installation will be presented at the exhibition for the first time in public, along with a selection of the artist’s earlier pieces.
The installation was realised as part of the Edition Bewegte Bilder – a cooperation between Museum Ludwig and the Rheingold Collection.
