KASPER KÖNIG TAKES STOCK
One wish remains unfulfilled
3 June - 4 November 2012

In November 2001, Kasper König opened the exhibition "Museum of our Wishes", in which he clearly presented his views regarding the collection at Museum Ludwig. He brought 120 works to the museum and marked them with a silver tag as wishes for the enlargement of the collection. With the help of patrons, donors and supporters he managed to place a golden tag on almost all of these works, showing that they were wishes come true. With this the strengths of the collection and its potential for growth became clear, as did the glaring gaps.

For over ten years Kasper König has consistently expanded the museum's collection. And central to this curatorial work has always been the question, how can temporary exhibitions serve the aims of the collection and vice versa, how can new exhibitions be initiated from the collection itself. The development of the collection at Museum Ludwig through this close combination of exhibitions and permament collection will now be illuminated by means of select works. And the title can be understood as a part of the agenda, because: One wish is always left unfulfilled.
