WOHER SOLL ICH WISSEN WAS IHR GEFÄLLT?
Works on paper from the Frankfurt collector Michael Loulakis
03 September - 09 October 2016
A selection from the lot of more than 2,500 works on paper by the Frankfurt collector Michael Loulakis, which provides a multifaceted insight into different artistic movements of the last century to today. The collection combines thematic groups and outstanding individual voices, spanning a large breadth of contemporary art history.
Paper, an everyday material, still finds use in the highest degree. It is a medium associated with the exchange of information, knowledge, and documentation, but can also be short-lived, imperfect and fragile. Containing drawings, graphics, watercolors, collages and illuminations, paper as an image carrier will always have a vital place in the art. It even serves as a working material for sculpture and assemblage. At the same time its reserved nature is an integral part of this medium, which rarely becomes intrusive or noisy due to its lightness, and always retains a quiet presence.
