Adrian Ghenie was born 1977 in Baia Mare in North West Romania. He graduated with a degree in painting from The University of Art and Design in Cluj. After university, Ghenie co-founded the gallery Plan B in Cluj. Ghenie has exhibited extensively in Europe, with solo shows at the National Museum of Contemporary Art, Bucharest (2009) and Stedelijk Musuem voor Actuele Kuns, Ghent (2011). Ghenie's first solo U.S. museum exhibition was presented at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Denver, in 2012. Ghenie has also participated in many group shows, including the Liverpool Biennale (2008), Prague Biennale (2009), Kunsthalle Budapest (2012), San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (2012), and Palazzo Strozzi, Florence (2012). He joined Pace in 2012 and his first solo exhibition with the gallery will be in spring 2013 in New York.
