Pilar Parra & Romero gallery is pleased to present Gary Webb's first solo show in Spain. Gary Webb was born in 1973 in England and now lives and works in London. Gary Webb seems to address many of the issues of 1960s Modernist abstract sculpture, in his work abstraction and representation coexist embracing a formal exchange between organic and geometric shapes, line and volume and reflective and transparent surfaces, merged with the use of material with reference to pop and humour. Modernist sculpture is honoured and parodied through the use of its vocabulary to express a representational language. Webb uses both natural and manufactured objects to construct unexpected configurations, for this he playfully integrates materials such as, glossy synthetics, chromed surfaces, chunky Perspex and hand-carved wood.Webbâ€TMs sculptures invariably end up being more than the sum of their parts. As the viewer moves around them they are able to evoke a wide array of emotions and unexpected narratives, sidestepping hastily interpretations while proposing their own internal logic.
