La Galerie Perrotin présente du 6 novembre au 23 décembre 2010 l’exposition Jin Meyerson Carpal Fatigue.
Les peintures souvent monumentales de Jin Meyerson aux compositions symétriques et à l’esthétique hyper-réaliste, décrivent des paysages aux lignes tortueuses ou des mouvements de foule.
Prélevant des images de presse dans les magazines ou sur internet, Jin Meyerson les déforment ensuite, leur faisant subir des distorsions infinies telles des anamorphoses. L’artiste traduit visuellement et physiquement comment les médias altèrent notre perception du monde.
Les motifs de foule démultipliés et fragmentés aux points de vues innombrables, se reflètent les uns les autres dans un jeu d’écriture en miroir - manifestation de la transe, provoquant une sensation d’étouffement et de vertige (Leviathan 2010, Carpal fatigue 2010).
La tension est également palpable dans ses panoramas d’architectures ( des tentes de réfugiés au Pakistan, The Refugee 2010, l’intérieur d’une usine de métal abandonnée, Before the invention of death 2010, ou le vertigineux barrage des Trois Gorges en Chine Butterfly Effect 2010, Undertow 2010 )
The Perrotin Gallery is presenting the Jin Meyerson exhibition, Carpal Fatigue from November 6th to December 23rd, 2010.
The monumental paintings of Jin Meyerson, which feature symmetrical compositions and a hyper realistic aesthetic, often describe landscapes of twisting lines or crowd movements.
Lifting press images from magazines and the Internet, Jin Meyerson then deforms them digitally, subjecting them to infinite distortions such as anamorphosis. The artist visually and physically translates how the media alters our perception of the world.
Reduced and fragmented crowd motifs from innumerable points of view reflect each other in a play of mirror writing, like a manifestation of trance, provoking a sensation of suffocation and vertigo (Leviathan 2010, Carpal Fatigue 2010).
The tension is likewise palpable in his architectural panoramas (refugee tents in Pakistan, The Refugee, 2010), the interior of an abandoned metal factory, (Before the Invention of Death, 2010), or the vertiginous scale of the Three Gorges Dam in China, (Butterfly Effect, 2010, Undertow, 2010).
