Paris Now : Group Show
06 May - 17 Jun 2006
PARIS NOW : GROUP SHOW
Trenton Duerksen, Martin Oppel, Cristina Lei Rodriguez, Leandro Erlich
The Galerie Emmanuel Perrotin will present, from the 6th of May till the 17th of June 2006, the work of 4 young foreign artists: Trenton Duerksen, Leandro Erlich, Cristina Lei Rodriguez and Martin Oppel.
Trenton Duerksen's surrealist sculptures appear like comical objects inspired by popular culture. The rough aspects and layered textures of his works, made in wax, remind us of a strange dream and the primitive power of laugher and fear.
Leandro Erlich's monumental installations play with the limits of our perceptions. Like a magician's assistant, the viewer is invited to activate the artistic setting with his presence.
Cristina Lei Rodriguez' vegetal assemblages take us to a place of fantasy and vanities. Repotted on a bed full of domestic treasures and decorated with cheap jewelry, these artificial plants give us the impression that they have been crystallized in greedy colored plastic to immortalize their sparkling beauty.
Lastly, the work of Martin Oppel opens the dialogue between urban culture and ancestral spirituality. His canvases, offer light diffacted, evoking an initiatory trip into a contemporary universe with an instantanious flashback. His sculptures carry out the transformation of cultural symbols into symbolic objects.
The Galerie Emmanuel Perrotin opens for the first time the doors of its Parisian space to the creative energy of his new favorites. A GROUP SHOW placed under the sign of exoticism, urban primitivism and illusion.
Location of the exhibition: 76, rue de Turenne 75003 PARIS
