Hans-Peter Feldmann
19 Nov 2010 - 13 Feb 2011
In cooperation with the magazine of the Süddeutsche Zeitung newspaper
Hans-Peter Feldmann (born in 1941), one of Germany's most unusual artists, designed the 46th issue of the Süddeutsche Zeitung's magazine and exhibited new work at the same time in the Pinakothek der Moderne. For more than forty years the artist, who lives in Dusseldorf, has used photographs and everyday objects in his work, combining them in constantly new ways. Feldmann expressly rejects the idea of distinguishing between material he has made himself or found; he sees no purpose in such a distinction. The actual significance of his work derives from a process of combination and association, communicated by means of subversive humor or quiet melancholy.
