Machinations, 2006
The Engine (2006) disappeared as evidence to reappear inside of the Musée National des Beaux-Arts du Québec as a work of art. It’s a loose interpretation of the fuselage of a Rolls-Royce RB211 airplane’s engine. The space occupied by its volume allows us to measure the scale of the disappearance.
Braking Matter, 2006
5 kilos of modeling clay, 800cm x 350cm, 2006
The small balls (between 50mm and 5mm) are made of Plasticine modeling clay pressed tightly together. The pellets are thrown with force so that they stick to the surface of the wall, in disregard to conventional decorum for the handling work. The formal interest lies in the pure braking of moving matter - how something in spatial trajectory stops when it hits the wall. Each event creates a residual spot and the accumulated events create a free and informal whole. The projectiles assemble themselves randomly on the surface, corresponding to the vision of constellated objects moving in space. The distinct colors of the pellets create different spatial layers due to their chromatic radiation.
Black Whole Conference, 2006
72 Chairs, 400cm in diameter.
The installation consists of a large sphere composed of an assemblage of chairs. The legs are attached to one another, bringing the chairs together. In this spherical conference room there is no central position, all the chairs float in solidarity with each other. They operate as an immune system – protecting themselves by blocking and kicking out their surroundings. As a massive object in the gallery space, the sphere acts as a centre of gravity around which the rest orbits. The reorganization of matter derives from a ‘big bang’ where the ancient order of the conference room has blown out and reconfigured into a ‘utopic’ geometrical endosystem.
Keep on Smoking, 2006
Bicycle, pedal power generator, smoke device.
As an alternative to petrol, this custom-made bicycle transforms kinetic energy produced by the cyclist into smoke. The will to power is a renewable energy resource that can be recuperated by a power generator supplying enough electricity to operate a smoke machine. The work is the result of two coupled machines; the one human is productive and the other machine, consumptive. This coupling of machines produces smoke, a waste energy that is liberated freely in the atmosphere.
Shared Propulsion Car, 2005
Car body, pedals and gears, 2005
In this project, all superfluous devices were removed from an 86’ Buick Regal – the engine, suspension, transmission and electrical system – thereby reducing the weight of the vehicle whilst preserving its appearance. It was then equipped with 4 independent pedal and gear mechanisms that make it possible for passengers to form the self-propulsion group. A cutting edge transmission technology was developed to transmit the power supplied by the passengers to the drive wheels and to vary the reduction ratios between cyclists and wheels, so as to ensure their progressive coupling for start-ups. With a top speed of around 15 km/h, the vehicle’s resistance to the culture of performance is raised to an unprecedented level.
Superficial, 2004
Mirror, glue, cement
Vosges, Alsace, France
Upon invitation to reflect on the notion of transparency, that led me into the forest to envelop the contour of a large stone with fragments of mirror. The large stone, tucked away deep in the woods, became a reflective surface for its surroundings. In this play of splintered radiance, the rock disappears in its reflections. Because it reflects one cannot be mislead by its presence, yet we cannot seize it, rather it is the rock that reflects us.

Reparations - A revaluation of waste
Video still, Paris, 2004
Reparations is an initiative in the course of which used plastic bottles found by chance on the street are recuperated and transformed into rockets. The ballistic launching device is made up of a bicycle pump used to compress a mixture of water and air in the recuperated bottle. Through the incessant up-and-down movement of the pump, the internal pressure reaches its peak, which results in a loud explosion and the release of the bottle's compressed contents. In this way, the bottle is transformed into a veritable rocket and shoots skyward. In walking through the city, bottles that had been abandoned in the streets were successively fired into the Paris sky.
Blue Monochrom, 2003
Dumpster, pump, filter, light, heating system
120cm x 180cm x 150cm
The dumpster is used to frame its contents - 1649 litres of filtered, chlorinated water. Its interior is lined with waterproof blue material while a pump and filter system ensures the purity of its contents. Powerful jets stimulate the sensorial experience.
Revolutions, 2003, Aluminum, 500cm x 500cm x 850cm
Public commission, city of Montreal, Parc Maisonneuve-Cartier, Montréal, 2003
This work is inspired by the curved staircases which are so much a part of Montreal's identity. Here, the staircase twists into a knot, deconstructing the vertical symbolism normally attributed to stairs, and takes us through an infinite cycle of revolutions, where, from one transformation to the next, all that rises comes down again.
Modern Phallacious, 2003
Hydraulic system, latex form, table
Inside a plexiglas cube placed on the table, emptiness develops alternately on either side of the latex form, making it turn inside out, backward and forward like a glove in a slow and steady movement.
Hole, 2002
Wandering trailer, wood, plaster and plastic
360cm x 240cm x 240cm
A hole has been creat in the back of a trailer where one could crawl inside. Open, available, and offered to passersby, the trailer is parked on downtown thoroughfares of the red light district.
Solitude, 2001, Colour Photograph , 190 cm X 160cm, 2002
The project consists of suspend a mobile home in isolation but in the centre of traffic for a retreat.
