Galerie Reinhard Hauff is pleased to announce an exhibition with new works by Julio Rondo.

Julio Rondo paints abstractly, but not without meaning. The motif appears in a remembered form; Rondo does not celebrate abstract painting with its gestures and habitus as a stroke of genius, but as a strictly thought-out and composed realisation of the image.

Remembering is the retrieval of events, information and experiences from the past revoked as condensed figurative elements or scenes. In the work of Julio Rondo the active exploration of the traces of that which has been and once was plays a central role. Rondo translates fractions and episodes of past situations into translucent compositions painted behind glass which can be experienced as both snap shots of the past, subjective random repression or deliberate forgetting.

Without depicting or reproducing visual appearances mimetically, numerous biographical and pop-cultural references to transitory signifiers in Julio Rondo’s paintings powerfully reactivate feelings, thoughts and impressions.

A fully documented German/English catalogue with contributions by Jutta Koether, Nicola von Velsen, Michael Dreyer, Diedrich Diederichsen, Kathryn Hixson, Jörg Heiser, Birgit Sonna, Ralf Christofori, Thomas Locher, Ludwig Seyfahrt will be presented at the opening of the exhibition.
