THE ONE SHOW SUMMER ART EXHIBITION 2014
17 June — 9 August 2014
We are delighted to host The One Show Summer Art Exhibition 2014.
In April this year, The One Show, BBC One’s daily live magazine programme, invited non-professional artists from throughout the UK to enter The One Show Summer Art Competition 2014. Divided into two age groups of 13 – 17 and 18 and above, viewers were invited to send artworks on either canvas or paper, on any theme, for consideration in the competition. The One Show received over one thousand submissions and the twenty four displayed here in the Royal Academy’s historic Reynolds Room represent the shortlisted entries.
You can also view the shortlisted works on The One Show website.
Three finalists from each category will be set a new challenge: to create a new work for the final. The two winning entries will be on display to the public from mid-July.
The Royal Academician Michael Landy, Head of Summer Exhibition and Curator of Contemporary Projects at the RA, Edith Devaney, actress and writer Maureen Lipman, BBC Radio 1’s Breakfast Show host Nick Grimshaw and BBC broadcaster Andrew Marr have all contributed to the judging process.
