ANNE-LISE BROYER
Au roi du bois
17 September - 3 November 2013
Sala Rekalde and the French Institute in Bilbao present the works by Anne-Lise Broyer (Macon, Francia, 1975), a significant artist in the current French art scene, who constantly questions the relationship between photography and literature, cinema, painting, drawing and engraving.
In the exhibition entitled Au Roi du bois Anne-Lise Broyer presents her particular "photographic literature" in which she attempts to rekindle the excitement she felt on reading Georges Bataille’s Guilty, The king of the wood by Pierre Michon and William Faulkner’s Sanctuary. The experience of photography fuses with that of reading. Black and white images allude to the grey of text, somewhat like the grey matter of landscapes.
This show, is held in collaboration with MAPAMUNDISTAS 2013, by the third following year, an exhibition project that will take place in Pamplona later, coordinated by Alexandra Baurès under the title Work your garden (Cultiva tu jardín).
