MAGMADAM
Buscamos Búnker
5 September - 5 November 2017
In the Abstract Cabinet Sala Rekalde presents the exhibition Buscamos búnker by the collective MAGMADAM (Myriam Petralanda, Itziar Markeigi and Aitor Villanueva) included in the barriek 2017 programme whose purpose is to display work by artists who have been awarded Grants for Artistic Creation by the Regional Council of Bizkaia.
Inge Lehmann used earthquakes to prove her theory, as these natural phenomena trigger two kinds of waves that are used to explore the Earth’s inner core.
Magmadam are bodies in action, generating sound waves that are closer to earthquakes, to energies that flow between a liquid and solid state. Their sound comes from their core and makes space vibrate, creating discontinuous interferences among the mass of women spectators. Based on luck and improvisation, new sound experiences are built in which only one alternative remains. As with an avalanche, the best option is to let oneself be carried along. This allows bodies to come into contact, flow together and feed back off a centrifugal or centripetal energy.
Looking for a bunker is an extract from a long and changing playlist, one that is in continuous transformation. "Looking for a bunker" evolves to exist in an artistic space. In a kind of oasis, we build a safe place that is open to free expression and all kinds of friendly attitudes... TRANSforming for the synergy between the vital fluids in our creative and activating practice.
