DANE MITCHELL ́s conceptual installations and objects are influenced by cognitive illusions in the perception of art. With the help of the irrational he explores the attitude of understanding art. In his work he confronts us with two options of belief in art: The irrational and the rational.

Previous group and solo exhibitions by DANE MITCHELL include an Art Statement at Art Basel 2008 and a solo-show at DAAD Galerie Berlin while being a fellow of the grant Berliner Künstlerprogramm of the DAAD 2009/10.

DANE MITCHELL was born in 1976 in New Zealand. He began his studies at the Auckland Institute of Technology and continued his education in Pittsburgh at the Carnegie Mellon University.
