Organizzar e Trasumanar
Selected Works 2006 - 2012
12 January - 23 February 2013

SCHAU ORT is proud to announce Walter Dahn's upcoming solo-exhibition Organizzar e Trasumanar, for which the artist selected silk-screen works from 2006 until 2012. We look forward to welcoming you at the opening on January 11th, 6 - 9 pm. The artist will be present.

Silk-screen printing is for Walter Dahn the logical artistic consequence of painting and photography, "since it possesses qualities of both of these forms of expression: the pictorial aspect, which results from the application of the paint by squeegee through the mesh and the option of duplication, which displays a mass-media character similar to photography... An important component of Dahn's work is the shift in meaning through textual interventions, i.e. he removes given facts from their original context in order to offer viewers a new perspective of things." Individual motifs and text fragments are repeated by Dahn over the years. Nevertheless, each silk-screen work in the exhibition is an original, not part of an edition. The title Organizzar e Trasumanar refers to a book of poems by the Italian writer and film-maker Pier Paolo Pasolini. This associative connection between Walter Dahn's artworks and the spheres of cinema or music is essential to his oeuvre. (Quote from: OIiver Zybok in Walter Dahn - About Today, 2009).
