246 AND COUNTING: RECENT ARCHITECTURE + DESIGN ACQUISITIONS

Thursday, July 10, 2008 - Sunday, January 04, 2009

This unorthodox exhibition showcases 246-plus objects acquired by SFMOMA's Architecture and Design Department since curator Henry Urbach joined the staff in September 2006. Architectural drawings and models, industrial-design objects, books, posters, photographs, and furniture will be displayed on low platforms and organized by acquisition date. This is a rare opportunity to see each and every piece the museum has collected in a given department over a two-year period. The exhibition also illuminates the accessions process, revealing how decisions are made about developing the collection.
