WINDOW REPORTAGE III

During the installation of (I Can) Feel the Pulse - an exhibition opening on August 27th -, the windows of the Showroom are offered to two young artists: Joey Verberkt (1989) and Duane de Koning (1988). As a prelude to the exhibition (I Can) Feel the Pulse, the artists will envision voices of protest, in particular the protest against the recent squatting prohibition, and its effect on the Rotterdam scene.
This is done by experimenting with text and images, using and re-using diverse, found, "worthless" material.
During the MAMA Window reportages, MAMA Rookies act as junior curators. Iris Schuttevaar (1993, Rotterdam) is a student at the Willem the Kooning Academy in Rotterdam. She has been a Rookie since January 2009. Iris choose artists Joey Verberkt and Duane de Koning for: ''their enthusiasm, their ability to take risks and their capability of accomplishing a lot, with hardly any materials.'' Joey Verberkt and Duane de Koning are also students at the Willem de Kooning Academy, respectively in their first and third year.
The Rookies talent development trajectory is supported by the SNS Reaal Foundation and the VSB Foundation.
