Taiyo Onorato & Nico Krebs (Swiss, both b. 1979) work collaboratively in photography, video, and installation. For the Photoweekend they combined works from the series Construction, which they started in 2009 in Berlin. The series is based on an optical trick that combines two conceptually distinct and spatially distant levels: buildings under construction that were never completed on the background and wooden structures created by the artists themselves that, thanks to a precise calibration between the human and the mechanical eye, seem to complete the missing parts of the building on the foreground. The series was expanded in 2012, when the duo applied the same process to unfinished and abandoned architectures in Lucania, Italy.
Taiyo Onorato & Nico Krebs (beide 1979 in der Schweiz geboren) arbeiten gemeinsam mit den Medien Fotografie, Video und Installation. Für das Photoweekend stellen die beiden Künstler Arbeiten aus der Serie Construction zusammen, welche Sie 2009 in Berlin begonnen haben. Die Serie basiert auf einem optischen Trick, welcher zwei konzeptionell unterschiedliche und räumlich unterteilte Ebenen verbindet: Im Hintergrund stehen Gebäude im Bau, die nie fertig gestellt wurden, im Vordergrund von den Künstlern selbst gebaute Holzkonstruktionen, die dank einer präzisen Ausrichtung zwischen dem menschlichen und mechanischem Auge die fehlenden Teile des Gebäudes fertigzustellen scheinen. Die Serie wurde im Jahr 2012 erweitert, als das Duo den gleichen Prozess an unfertigen und verlassenen Architekturen in Lucania, Italien, anwendete.
