Im Rahmen von Suzie Q Projects freuen sich Birgid Uccia und Bob van Orsouw, erstmals in der Schweiz die Arbeiten des in Glasgow lebenden und arbeitenden Künstlers Henry Coombes (*1977) vorstellen zu können. Eine Auswahl der Werke von Henry Coombes war 2007 an der Biennale von Venedig im Schottischen Pavillon zu sehen.
"The eccentric art practice“ von Henry Coombes erstreckt sich von Aquarellen, über Ölbilder, Skulpturen und Filme bis hin zu Installationen, in denen diese Medien oftmals miteinander verknüpft werden. Die grotesk anmutende Verbindung von Materialien, die Ausreizung von Formen und die Entfremdung vertrauter Inhalte sind für sein künstlerisches Schaffen bestimmend.
Within the framework of the Suzie Q projects, Birgid Uccia and Bob van Orsouw are pleased to present – for the first time in Switzerland – works by Henry Coombes (*1977 in London), an artist who lives and works in Glasgow. A selection of Henry Coombes Scottish Pavilion Venice Biennale 2007.
Henry Coombes the way to installations in which these media are often linked. The grotesque-like combination of materials, the irritating forms and the twist given to familiar contents are the determining factors behind his artistic creations.
