Kelley uses word-play and puns to suggest alternative versions of history and mythology in this new commision for Tate Liverpool
A new commission by Mary Reid Kelley, her first museum solo exhibition in the UK. Reid Kelley combines painting, performance, and her distinctive poetry in black and white stylised videos. Made in collaboration with Patrick Kelley, the works deploy word-play and puns to suggest alternative versions of history and mythology. She most recently made the performance This is Offal as part of BMW Tate Live at Tate Modern and a week-long live performance as part of Berliner Festspiele. She received the Baloise Art Prize 2016. Reid Kelley lives and works in upstate New York.
