The Most Electrified Town In Finland
24 January – 3 February 2013

During the International Film Festival Rotterdam The Most Electrified Town in Finland (2004-12) by film maker and artist Mika Taanila shall be presented in TENT’s back room. This three-channel video installation shows the construction of the Olkiluoto 3 nuclear power plant in the town of Eurajoki, Finland. The Most Electrified Town in Finland was premiered at dOCUMENTA (13) in the summer of 2012.

The Olkiluoto 3 was the first nuclear power plant to be built after the Chernobyl disaster and will be the world’s most powerful. The nuclear power plant should have opened in 2009, but construction has been delayed due to mismanagement and technical problems. The power station's construction is portrayed on three monumental screens, interspersed with images of landscapes and scenes of daily life in the town of Eurajoki.

On the 1st floor of TENT, Taanila presents the installation Stimulus Progression (Rotterdam) (in collaboration with Witte de With). More of Taanila's films can be seen in the Spectrum Shorts program of the International Film Festival Rotterdam, including the world premiere of his short film Six Day Run.
