After the exhibition in 1999 and 2001, this time is the third exhibition at Tomio Koyama Gallery after an interval of four years.

Sakai depicts a lot of surface of the waters that extend the whole canvas. The canvas screen delimited in a soft curves that are seemingly a big color field, but when you see carefully to the canvas, small eyes and nose are drawn. A sad and funny expression of these faces are floating on a full screen. In the another work, a slight ankle like child's foot is soaked in water. The universe is reserved and when you look up at a big puddle that floats in the air, you see a small back of the foot. The act of drawing for her is to make the boundary. The viewers feel richness and the depth though we are praised from the verge of the earth, ground, and a quite surface of the water. The image of the extending water seems to soaked through our bodies.
The sense which the body usually forgotten is called back.

When I was small, I was afraid of a spot on the wall. As I watched, out of the spot came a fearful face. Although I tried to stop them, scary thoughts started to arise one after another, soon filling my mind with awful thoughts.
Unless I stayed quiet and calm, fearful things started to overflow from my head. But on the other hand, I also thought that it was strange because thhe head is not a container. (from the catalogue of Criterium 40, Mito Contemporary Art Center)

More than 10 new works are exhibited in this exhibition at Tomio Koyama Gallery.
