The Conquerors of the Sun

The Conquerors of the Sun (2012) is the most recent film project by Warsaw based artist Anna Baumgart. She has invited the historian of the avant-garde and art critic, Andrzej Turowski to participate in it, let her involve him. Together they recreate the track of the propagandist train which was supposed to get in 1920 via Poland to Berlin in order to support German Communist Party and transport the ideas of revolution to the West. Andrzej Turowski's book, The Locomotive of History, is an integral part of the project – this textual and verbal installation which can be located at the margins not only of genres, but also of the grand narrative about art and politics. It plays with and against them.
