Collaboration artists, school and museum

During Dutch Design Week 40 second year students from Heerbeeck College in Best are working with artists Tijs Rooijakkers and Toos Nijssen to create a piece of art that stumulates social interaction. Both Toos and Tijs will work with 20 students. Toos will also take the students to Dynamo where they create a soundscape as a part of the artwork. The final products will be shown in the studio of the museum during the autumn holiday.

Heerbeeck International College
The workshops and the exhibition are part of the HIC projectweek. Students in this special and new education path are working on 21st century skills like creativity, design, ICT literacy and interdisciplinary collaboration. From 19 to 23 October all 180 students in the HIC will work on the same case: create a work of art that stimulates social interaction. Students can choose 7 different disciplines to do this, for example dance, text, music. Tijs represents 'visual art' as a means of creating, and the students who choose for Toos choose 'video art'.

Tijs Rooijakker is an Eindhoven-based artist who is known especially for his recent project Supertoll! For more info, visit his website.

Toos Nijssen has been researching video selfportraits for years. She exhibited in several museums, among others Van Abbemuseum and Van Bommel van Dam in Venlo. Visit her website for more info.

Heerbeeck Colleg is one of the 3 first Brainport schools in the region. Last year the school started the new education form 'International College'.
