CURATING THE COLLECTION

Curating the Collection is a new series of exhibitions in collaboration with the Kadist Art Foundation, San Francisco and the Graduate Program in Curatorial Practice. Using the Kadist Art Foundation's collection as a starting point, each student will organize an exhibition which examines a specific nuance within collection curating. Each exhibition will be displayed approximately one month long on CCA's San Francisco campus.
The display for Curating the Collection is a culmination of a course led by Wattis Director Jens Hoffmann which focuses on both practical and conceptual approaches for creating and maintaining a collection. Curating the Collection aims to extend and develop the dialogue, expertise and scholarship within collection display.
Founding support for CCA Wattis Institute for Contemporary Arts programs has been provided by Phyllis C. Wattis and Judy and Bill Timken. Generous support provided by the Phyllis C. Wattis Foundation, Grants for the Arts / San Francisco Hotel Tax Fund, Ann Hatch and Paul Discoe, and the CCA Curator's Forum.
