During the course of the twentieth century, repetition has emerged as a central artistic strategy. The fact that this need not necessarily result today in serial doubling strategies is demonstrated by the Westfälischer Kunstverein in the form of a group of young, contemporary positions. Working in different media, repetition is currently utilised in particular as a method in the production of knowledge and discourse. Central to this are instances of reshowing, retelling and rediscovering in the sense of an appropriation and a topicalization. Found material is subject to scrutiny and recontextualised, and throughout this process, much attention is paid to a reflexive engagement with individual conditions of production, as well as to the general production of cultural knowledge.
