The Whitechapel presents a trilogy of films that combine documentary, poetic travelogue and visual essay. The award winning A Season Outside, begins its exploration of violence and non violence from a thin white line on the India Pakistan border, a site where perhaps anyone in the eye of a conflict could find themselves. A Night of Prophecy, features music and poetry performed by artists in a journey, which seeks to predict the future as it traces conflict and the passage of time. To Remember is about a gallery and the smell of death . A silent homage to Mahatma Gandhi, filmed at Birla House in New Delhi where he was assassinated in 1948.

Indian filmmaker Amar Kanwar's mesmerising narratives link traditional myths to contemporary events, connecting political process with cultural rituals and personal experience. Kanwar's films resonate with diverse audiences as they examine the economies and psychology of sexuality, politics, philosophy and art.
