THE STREET - BERND KRAUSS

Bernd Krauss is a versatile and playful German artist who finds poetry in unexpected situations. He collects discarded materials that are assembled into sculptural installations and researches diverse organisations to create new relationships.
For The Street, Krauss works with three spaces in and around Wentworth Street. He transforms the roof terrace of the residential tower block Denning Point into a live/work space for cultural activities, such as a TV channel, overlooking Petticoat Lane Market and the ever-changing skyline of east London. These images are then transmitted live to a stack of second hand monitors on display at The Shop – The Street’s headquarters. Fascinated by marginalised communities and their infrastructures, Krauss also aims to raise the profile of St Boniface Church, a German-speaking Catholic establishment on Adler Street.
