Aquarelles composites
7 September - 4 October 2012

Yvon Lambert is pleased to announce Aquarelles Composites, an exhibition of collaborative paintings by Jonathan Monk and David Shrigley.
Shrigley and Monk trained for many years as painters, struggling with different styles, workings methods and traditional processes. They met in the late 1980ʼs while students at the Glasgow School of Art and became friends. Now internationally acclaimed, they choose to work again within the sadly neglected theme of classical watercolour landscape painting and portraiture.
Paris, a symbolic city with a rich artistic history, will offer the artists an opportunity to consecrate their achievement as painters. The city will also be an inspiration as all the works for the exhibition will be produced in-situ, the artists will turn the small store front gallery into a studio on the days before their presentation – in Paris the struggle for authenticity will continue...
« As we advance in life it becomes more and more difficult, but in fighting the difficulties the inmost strength of the heart is developed. »
« Great things are done by a series of small things brought together. »Vincent Van Gogh Jonathank Monk was born in Leicester (UK) in 1969. His work uses art history as its source and questions, often with humor, the notion of artistic genius. He lives in Berlin.
David Shrigley was born in 1968 in Macclesfield (UK). Exhibited internationally, his works (drawings, paintings, sculptures, photographs, videos) portray the world we live in with a cynical distance and a sharp humor. He lives in Glasgow (UK).
