Steglitz House by Bridget Baker was filmed on 16mm inside a miniature construction of a 1930s West Berlin villa. The camera slowly explores the detailed interior and exterior of the upper-class architecture, mapping a dense rhizome of personal mythologies. Since the miniature objects have different scales, some of the used materials are strongly out of proportion and inaccurate timelines collide, the intricate work reveals itself as an ambiguous and conjuring collage.
Composer Braam du Toit timeless score avoids any categorization, leaving the camera and the audience wandering in the labyrinthine details of the miniature from the Arikalex Museum in Berlin Steglitz.

The on-going screening series Phantom Horizons presents digital as well as analogue works that question the paradigm of linear perspective, seeking a new kind of “status perspective” [Bedeutungsperspektive]. The latter was a development of ancient and medieval painting, in which the size of figures is determined by their hierarchical significance. Extending this approach using the methodology of deconstruction and the possibilities of contemporary film creation, the presented works open up multifaceted, unseen horizons.
