Robert Doisneau – Photographs
09 Dec 2016 - 05 Mar 2017
Only a few photographers manage to become famous through a single picture. “Le Baiser de l’Hôtel de Ville” is one of those pictures, taken by Robert Doisneau (1912–1994) in front of a Paris street café in the spring of 1950. The picture of the kissing couple is an icon of photography – and solidified the reputation of the French metropolis as the city of love. Doisneau’s pictures are declarations of love to everyday life in Paris, its suburbs and to humanity. By showing around 100 selected photographs, this exhibition will provide insight into Doisneau’s extensive work in which much can still be discovered.
